General Louis Marquis was an up and coming French General. He took command of the 8th French Army from May 3, 1788 until his death on July 30, 1788. Where the position was then taken by his second in command Napoleon Rancourt. Louis Marquis is regarded for his early actions in the War of 1788 which in turn set the stage for a staggering French victory in which the Chinese would actually lose 20,000 more men than the French. Today he is widely forgotten, except for one memorial in a park in Paris France.
